The MAPE Project
A new multi-functional conurbation and coastal resort in Kaffu Bullom Chiefdom, Sierra Leone.
The MAPE Town
The new town will contain a rich tapestry of recreational parkland and waterways. A central lake will be the defining feature, with free spaces extending alongside the tributaries, providing an attractive series of inter-linked spaces for recreation.
Mape Town will provide a modern and desirable living experience and will include the following range of facilities such as Hotels & Conference Centres, Residential Accommodation, Residential Premises such as shops, Offices and workshops, leisure facilities and community facilities. Such as, schools, hospitals, a heritage centre, places of worship and emergency services.
The location for the new proposed town is in Kaffu Bullom Chiefdom, Port Loko District. It is 4.5 miles North East of Lungi Airport, across the river from Freetown and will arranged over 570 Acres (6,612 Town Lots).
Konakridee Coastal Resort
The Konakridee Coastal Resort is also found in the heart of Kaffu Bullom Chiefdom in the heart of the Port Loko District of Sierra Leone. Konakridee is situated 7 miles north of Lungi International Airport. The resort will be a peaceful and restful environment with a variety of recreational activities. It will host a wide range of different restaurants, bars, places of entertainment and will be set in a verdant and carefully tended landscape.
The Konakridee Coastal Resort would include: Beach hotel (incl. villas and chalets) with wellness centre; spas and gymnasium, leisure and recreational facilities (beaches, squash/tennis courts, swimming pools, marina and water sports centre), Residential accommodation (bungalows and villas); Commercial accommodation (shops, restaurants, bars and night clubs).
The MAPE Central Utility Complex
A proposed Central Utility Complex (CUC) will be a district-wide system that provides all the required utility services to the MAPE Town and the Konakridee Coastal Resort. The CUC will include a solar power system that will add to the provision of generated electrical power.
Potable Water will be extracted from an underground reservoir and will be treated before being provided to the end users.

The town will meet a high standard of development and quality of life that will appeal to Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad and will also provide a range of opportunities to live, work and recreate. The development will also mean that the surrounding local communities will have access to more health and education resources, wellbeing and utility supplies.

The town and the businesses it spawns will provide employment opportunities for 10,000 people.

The economic activity that this town is expected to generate will be in excess of $100m per annum.

This town has been designed to facilitate a healthy lifestyle by encouraging residents to move around by walking and cycling. The town will also benefit from various innovations that reduce its carbon footprint.

The resort will meet a high standard of development and quality of life that will appeal to Sierra Leoneans and International Visitors alike. The resort will also provide a safe and comfortable environment from which to go out and explore the more rural parts of Sierra Leone.

Employment
The Resort will provide between 100 and 200 direct jobs. When you factor in the tourism multiplier effect, this could mean a further 300 indirect jobs in the economy.

The resort activity is expected to add in excess of $15m annually to Sierra Leone’s GDP.

Environmental Sustainability
The resort will benefit from variations innovations that reduce its carbon footprint. These include reduced consumption of water in the showers and faucets, no gas based air-conditioning system, approximately 40% reduction in base case consumption of electricity; and measures to minimise food waste in the kitchens.

The nature of the design and the level of built in redundancies will mean that the town and the Coastal Resort will receive 24x7 uninterrupted utility supply and a dedicated management service with quick response times to address faults.

These include recycling of water, optimised synergies of power generation system and a Power Management System which allows it to reduce / manage operating costs to correlate to the volume of utilities being demanded by the facilities.
